Led by two highly experienced TV actors, the Italia Conti intensive TV courses are aimed at those who want to develop both the technical and organic skills required to communicate individual performances on screen.
The Introduction course provides a comprehensive foundation for actors with little or no screen experience.
The Advanced course will suit experienced actors, who want to refresh and extend their facility with camera work.
Primarily workshop/studio based, these courses will focus on performance technique using a wide variety of scripts specific to filmed media. You will explore the skills relevant to auditioning for TV and all students will receive dvd material at the end of the courses that may be for personal show-reel purposes.
The courses will focus on you as an individual and help you to fulfil your potential as an emerging artist and will cover some of the following:
Idents to camera
Study and performance of TV scenes and monologues
Creating a believable performance
Familiarity of standard TV script layout and technical terminology
Eye lines and use of space in close up
Making ‘poor’ TV scripts work
Audition practice/screen test
Pick up a scene from any line within it
Shoot scenes out of sequence
ABOUT THE COURSE DIRECTORS
Kate Williams and Karen Henthorn are experienced teachers and actors and have appeared in many TV series including: Eastenders, Coronation Street, Holby City, Casualty, Shameless, The Street, Family Affairs,Love Thy Neighbour, Hughie Green Most Sincerely, Widows, Born and Bred, Pulling, Trollied, Booze Cruise, Heartbeat, Silent Witness, Raining Stones, Dalziel and Pascoe, The Bill.
